Hi all, I am in middle of refurbishing 1959 Riley 2.6 ex UK. Have taken back to bare metal and completed rust removal and 2 pot expoxy primer. I am having trouble identifying the right colour codes and names. Below the waistline is a darker blue not unlike the darker blue in the above forum banner. This may be Florentine Blue (?) . Above the waistline is a lighter blue. Again not unlike the lighter blue in the above club banner. Any help appreciated. Many thanks Mike

Hi Mike, I suspect that the colours you refer to are Florentine Blue (paint code BU7) and Bermuda Blue (paint code BU40). Both these colours were used on Rileys in the late 50's = and certainly the only two blue colours used on the One-Point-Fives at that time. Bare in mind that you car could have had a non-standard paint scheme at some time - its not unknown for the factory to do a special order colour scheme. But my guess is that it is Bermuda Blue above Florentine Blue. Attached below is a BMC colour chart - it is from a slightly later, but does show the two blues in question, and a few other Riley colours. Hope this helps! All the Best, Roger

Hi Roger Many thanks for your reply. Since posting I managed to find a sales brochure online for the Riley 2.6. In that brochure it listed the seven standard duotones. The blue duotone was given as Bascilica Blue and Teal Blue (above waistline). These colours look close to the original paint on car so I have got a can of each to be made up to original BMC paint code equiv. So once I get those I can check to see if correct. The Floritine Blue also looks close. Will keep you posted. Thx Mike (nzriley)
