I've heard about waterless coolant. Anybody used it in an older car? Any comments?

I have used Evans Waterless coolant in my Riley One Point five for some two years without any problems it is especially good when your vehicle is stuck in traffic because it boils at a much higher temperature and it is very good in winter because it does not freeze at extremely low temperatures it looks like slush puppy with minute crystals. I have a newish radiator and an electric fan so my vehicle did not suffer from overheating I would say that Waterless coolant is not a magic bullet for a dodgy cooling system but used correctly it can be beneficial. Having said all that I know of a highly respected local Engineering firm that reconditions BMC engines (most notably A and B series engines) will not give a warranty to any of its work if Waterless Coolant is used in its products. After quizzing them about this I was informed that water is approx 50% more efficient than Waterless Coolant in removing heat from the surface of metal and they had received several engines that had either running problems ie misfiring caused by partially seized Valves and bore/piston damage caused by overheating at speed as the coolant is not removing the heat fast enough causing localised heat build up and partial seizure. Hope that this information is of some help? P.s. Check out two videos from Jay leno's Garage about Waterless Coolant which I feel may help explain a few things from someone who has used this on his classics over many years. NP
