Can anybody confirm the size of the drain plug for the petrol tank on a MkI onepointfive please?
It is just over 30mm which seems to equate to 1.3/16ths (in inches). But before I go and invest in a socket to do the job it would be excellent if somebody could confirm the official size.
Many thanks.

Well after some trial and error the size is 33.03 mm ish depending on which pair of flats you are measuring. That equates to 1.3 or 1 and 1/4 or maybe 5/16ths inch or the Whitworth equivalent looks to be 3/4.

Definitely 1.5/16ths inch. A new socket for my collection!

Most petrol tank plugs with hex head on brit cars are BSF/Whitworth head sizes.. which are hard to make sense of, as the same spanner is marked differently for BS or whitworth ( as I recall 5 1/6" BSF = 1/14"W) ....which commonly seem to be between metric and american std sizes.. but if a 1 5/16" socket fits.. all well and good.. most of these plugs are rounded off to some extent because .... its hard to find the right spanner/socket that fits.. and pipe wrenches/vice grips weak havoc with them..
