Hello everyone from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada...I’m a new proud owner of a (Canadian left hand drive) green 1959 Riley 1.5, (decent shape but restoration required) I have been glued to this site for the past three days, and have also “googled” Riley 1.5 like a crazy person looking for Canadian content - proof of life that others exist here - with no luck. Just wondering if anyone knows how many of these cars were exported to Canada back in 1959 (If stats are known, specifically how many were exported to BC ... and how many still exist today? If u have one over here I’d like to hear from you. Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting a 1.5 - you will have great fun with it! Can I suggest that you join the Riley Motor Club - as they may be able to tell you of any other owners in your part of Canada - they also have an excellent spares department. We have a very active member on this forum - who uses the name Canuck -although from my limited geography, he is the other side of Canada.
I run the register for 1.5s - but information on Canadian cars is very limited. From what I know so far, only the early cars (Mk1s) were exported and the main countries were South Africa and the USA. However quite a number did go to Canada. Of the first 5,000 cars built (as far as I have got so far!) 84 were exported to Canada, with a total of 1,226 exported worldwide. BUT - this is incomplete - I still have more research to do, and would guess that these numbers could easily be doubled! Would you be willing to let me have the details of your car? - so that I can pop them in the register? There may be a slim chance its already in it - but I doubt it! Best way is to send me a PM (private massage) via the forum.
Cheers, Noddy.

Hello Dave, Welcome and congrats on the new toy. I assume your 'new' car is the car that showed up on Kijiji a couple of months ago? Good looker but if I recall has some 'under body attention' required. FWIW all these little cars do. Yes, Roger is spot on I am located in Montreal so a decent drive from you. There is quite a few Riley one-point-five not so far from you. One for sure that visits this forum often is nestled in Sechelt. Not many Riley around me for sure. I hear lots of stories, the recount of lots of memories but see few cars. Years ago a group of owners had an opportunity to meet up in north east US of A and had assembled 4 at once. This is rare. Below at Watkins Glen race track north NY state. As well as the above we know of 3 others close enough to drive to so they are out there. South of you in California, there is a 'pod' of Riley one-point-five. Not sure if all are on the road but legend has it ............... . Ask anything you need to know about these little cars in our dedicated forum. Between us all we will steer you wrong, steer you right, but be assured you will be entertained. Salut Bruce

Thanks so much for the info, can’t wait for Spring to give this car some attention. Just parked in front of my house for a few days now and everyone walking by (even had someone driving by) has stopped to compliment how cute the car is and ask what it is.

I never noticed thanks for pointing out... and thanks to you upon further inspection of my windscreen I noticed an 8” crack I will post a question in the “Riley section” per forum rules unless u guys know the answer... There is a local guy selling two 1953 Austin A40’s, the windscreen looks the same (from the pics anyway) I will consider if they are. He is only asking $450 for one and $800 for the other. Or what other British car windscreens I can use. Attachments:

Dave Not sure if this Riley windscreen is shared with the Austin group. For sure the Wolseley 1500 windscreen is identical, but not too many, if any of these cousins came to this side of the pond.. FWIW the part number is ALA1661.
I guess you missed it in my previous post, I mentioned there is a chap not so far from you in Sechelt. He may have a correct windscreen for you. His name is Ian Rossiter and he posts on the one-point-five forum. Send him a PM to make initial contact.
He is a top shelf chap, has a Riley one-point-five and a spares pile with a car! He is always ready to lend a helping hand with bits. I have bought quite a few bits from him, and had them posted to me on this side of the country. I suggest you source the windscreen from Ian but as always this is your choice, take a chance on the Austin one?.
You will also need to renew the rubber seal as yours looks like it is perished, the SS surround trim appears to be falling out, they all do. I may have a n extra here let me know if you need it, saves exchange rate and carriage charges from the UK.
See you on the forum
Bruce
