Not wishing to upset anyone, but I think a boot rack on the Riley may look quite good.
Anyone tried it and/or see a reason it wouldn't be possible.
Not looking to load it up with a load of weight just for looks really?

Hi DLM, I have never seen a 1.5 with a boot rack. Certainly it was never a dealer fitted option at the time (although a roof rack was). My thought is that it might be quite difficult to fit - the boot shut line is quite curved and it may be difficult to get a normal boot rack (say for an MGB or Spitfire) to fit securely. If you do try it, let us see the results. Roger

Can't provide you with any options, sorry. I think the boot of the Riley is adequately spacious so have never considered a rack.
What I do like about the Riley and this may pose a problem with a custom rack design is the round shape of the body panels. The Riley is the first car I have ever owned, (excluding a Beetle many years ago) that is so 'round' nothing gets stored on it while it is in the garage. All my other cars get things put/thrown on them, I guess flat surface = a shelf?
Any way best of luck with this project, and please share your result with us.

Bruce,
My Riley currently has part of a beehive, some frames and a smoker on it. Put it this way ... I'm very proud of the balancing act!

Thanks both.
The boot is an interesting shape so, as you both say it may be tricky.
I haven't been able to find any images where something has been fitted.
I'll continue to investigate and update accordingly 😁
Darren.

Over here in French Canada my Black Riley is affectionately known as the 'chapeau melon' car within the local vintage car club. Translates to Bowler hat to you blighters! the likeness with the roof-line is remarkable. salut Bruce
