Hallo. I live in the Free State, which is an inland area of South Africa. My husband restored a right hand drive Series 1 Riley 1.5 about 7 years ago. Unfortunately, he passed away 6 years ago. The car has since been standing locked up. I want to sell the car. First I need to register it on my name, and for that I need proof of its year of manufacture. How can I find out in which year it was made? I have all the numbers that are on all the plates on the car. It was assembled in Durban, South Africa. I have emailed the Riley Owners Club twice already, but, as yet, have received no reply. Please give me the direct email address ofthe correct person, who can officially date my car. How do I value it? I do not know exactly what my husband did. He restored many cars for himself and others. He restored this car for us. I see the "One Point Five" badge is missing on boot lid and the window pane inside the RH front door is scratched. There are protective seat covers over seats, so I do not know condition of actual seat covers underneath. Which is the safest place to offer it for sale? Your assistance in dating the car and sound advice will be appreciated. Regards, awol

Hi Awol,
I look after the register (not an official club register!), which has been up and running for over 20 years and lists almost all the known One-Point-Fives! I should be able to tell you the month/year it was built etc, if you can give me chassis and engine numbers! Best thing is to send me a PM (Private message) via the forum and I will see what I can do for you.
As for value - it is very difficult without seeing it - but in the UK good, restored examples can sell for between £7000-£8000 - however there does seem to be quite a lot of variation on price. It really does depend on what someone is willing to pay.
Cheers, Roger
