Hello. I have a 1/2 pint pewter mug awarded to my late father on 9-10-1937. It was awarded for 2nd place. The inscription reads .... RILEY MOTOR CLUB. 2ND PLACE AWARD. 9-10- 1937 MR A.C.BABER. Can anyone help me to discover what event this was, where and if possible which car ? Many thanks to all Paul Baber.

Hi Paul, I am guessing it's a 2nd place in a concourse at the national rally of 1937. Tim Booth might know, I will rope him in on this one. Cheers Bob

I read 2nd Class Award therefore more likely an RMC rally as opposed to Concours. I have a couple of these one of which was engraved with my fathers name. Attachments:

My Father was a member of the RMC before the war and I have quite a few results of North west Centre events such as trials and or rallies. However this trophy was I think awarded in a National RMC event which would because it says 2nd class Award, mean a lot of entrants in order to give out 2nd class awards. The Riley Motor Club 24 was their biggest annual event, but it was usually held in the summer, so what this event was I'm not sure. Good news that once the RMC Archive has been set up, I feel sure that the Riley Record published just after this event will contain all the details you need. Tim Sprite 124
