Hello all, Have just purchased a 1969 Riley Kestrel 1300! It's a slight project to get on the road which will bump the number of Kestrels on the road to 42!

Congratulations Harris. They are very attractive cars and have the advantage of being quite suitable for every day use. I hope you have stocked up on polish and welding supplies! Regards, Rob

Bosch battery purchased! I aim to polish it once a week at the very least... Our welding friend is coming round next week to let me know how many floor and sill panels I need to purchase from www.earlpart.co.uk/Only 30k on the clock and the engine runs sweet as a nut! Now to figure out how to replace two hydrolastic units...

Fine set of extreme wheels/tyres with it. 1300s don't race well! Cheers, G

Oh & ask your welder to check out the air vent drain in front of the windscreen, this can rot and let water into the footwell. Easier job when you have all the interior trim out. Cheer, G

Well the Kestrel has been in the garage for a week and a half now. Rear subframe has been removed and painted as well as the petrol tank - I had sand in the tank! Rust in the rear end has been cut away revealing years of dodgy welding with new welds simply welded over the rusty crumbling old metal! Subframe and tank go back in tomorrow and both inner and outer sills are being done over the next few days.

Looking good.
In my experience, panels will need to be ordered well in advance of when they are required. They're not often held in stock but made on an individual basis. When I needed a couple of panels for my 1.5 the waiting time was circa 12 weeks.

Check out the April Riley Record for my story so far!!!
Car was at Swift Welding for four weeks! Andy makes all his own panels and laughed at the panels I bought from Earlpart - £500 wasted!
I can't recommend him any more highly for all your vehicle welding needs!

I have just joined, and have the pleasure of owning this exact riley kestrel mushroom brown & beige, she is a beauty I plan on writing a full report included pictures and work done & its history later this evening (when I am not at work ) It might act as good motivation for your project.
