Has anyone successfully installed a high torque starter motor into the Riley 1.5?
If yes, then could you let me have details of the make and model number.
Cheers and thanks in advance for any info

Hello Graham, I have not done this conversion but have read of many that have. The MGA fitment is as close to identical as can be, both physically and electrically. There is a Nippondenso HT motor available for our application available from British Starters™. The front plate of the starter is indexable for clearance to block & frame. This being contingent for high or low starter motor fitment. Apparently no issue to mesh with the flywheel ring gear, that by the way is a good thing. There will be a small amount of wiring mods, (HT starter motor has the solenoid integral) but straight forward by someone in the know. www.classiccarperformance.com/collections/britishstarters-com/products/mgaAll the best Bruce

Bruce
Thanks for the info.
From what I’d so far read, researched, had ad hoc comments on or simply surmised, I thought an MGA type unit might work.
In addition, a Morris Minor unit is being touted as a possible fit along with the electrical connections being changed as well.
Cheers
Graham
