The two gearboxes I have for my 1960 Riley 1.5 are in a professional gearbox repair service in Bristol and it looks as though there’s going to be a list of new parts needed.
They’re unable to source these and whilst the list of parts needed hasn’t yet been completed has anyone any recommendations or suggestions where these might be obtained from.
By the way, does anyone know if an MGA gearbox can be fitted to a 1.5? I might be able to get hold of a reconditioned one and in which case I might go down that road instead.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

David
Thank you for the info.
I've quickly glanced at their website and it seems as though the parts needed (synchro etc) are not available. Shame as they're based in Bristol where I live so it would have been easy to nip down there and get what is needed. I will however get in touch with them as and when necessary to see the latest position.
However, if I can use MGA parts then I might be able to get whatever parts are needed through the MG Owners Club. That might be worth looking into.
Cheers and thanks again.

Hi,
As far as I'm aware the guts of an MGA box are the same. The case may be different.
Herb
I've just searched, and yes the cases are different. The Riley / Wolseley 1500 have a different shaped bell housing, to clear the steering rack.

Longbridgemotorspares.co.uk have all the parts required and may be able to advise on who to use for the rebuild if you do not wish to do it yourself.

I can get all that is required from Longbridge Motor Spares and Moss but there’s one part that is no longer available. 2nd gear (31 teeth) is seemingly no longer produced. Have tried MG Owners Club on the basis that it is the same as the MGA box but no luck there. Struggling now to find either a new or a good second hand part. Now hoping Andy Bradley from Wolseley 1500 spares has a decent second hand part.

Thank you everyone for your input. Hugely appreciated.
Have managed to source all parts needed. Hopefully these will be with me next week and then it’s over to Gloucester Road Gearboxes in Bristol to do their stuff.
