The switch on my 1961 car is giving trouble and, ideally needs replacing. I cannot find an original but a few years ago I believe Bruce (canuck) said a Luas S45 Type 2 could be used. Looking at the pictures this would take some mods to fix it to the back of the dash and I wondered what was involved? Are there any other similar key operated switches that anyone knows could be used instead? As an alternative could I find a replacement barrel and keys as this is all that is worn I think. Any help or advice would be welcome please?

Hi Roy,
I replaced my switch with a generic MGB one. I wanted key start, since I needed an extra hole for a rear demister switch. I alos got a 4 position one, so I could use my radio when stopped.
Do an eBay search.

I did find original switches for sale @ £150 and £195 (without barrel and keys)! £8 for a new barrel and keys sounds like a much better option. Thanks for advice.

Let us know how this works out for you. Many of us need new ignition switches and swapping a tumbler barrel is a doddle.
Keep well
