Good Day, I am a new member as of today's date and my name in Bryan. I have a Classic Car website which you are welcome to visit at any time. I have worked in the motor trade all my working life some 40+ years for various manufacturers. the last being Mercedes Benz. I am currently restoring a 1966 Riley Elf with the help of friends in the trade. The car will be completed hopefully in time for her 50th birthday next year. I am not keeping to the original car spec. The car will have a few modern upgrades but hopefully still retain it's 1960's charm. The electrics will be brought up to date with alternator electrics, a steering lock and column mounted switches for the two speed and intermittent wipers and washers. The lighting switch will also be ao a column-mounted stalk. The wiring loom will be made by me with a 20 fuse and relay box controlling the electrical functions. I will also include daytime lights, Spot Lamps, Rear fog light and Reverse Lights. Well in late 2017 I had to move the car to a new restorer after finding the restoration was a disaster and I am currently in the middle of a court case to get my money back. The new restorers agreed with my findings and I had a full inspection carried out which revealed more horrors so it was decided to carry out a soda blast which revealed even more "bodges" I have several photos I can show and did think of having a website showing the restoration as it progress's. I welcome your thoughts

2nd February 2019 Its been sometime since I posted on this forum. I have some great news "Ernie" my 1966 Riley Elf (Yes I have a new name) should be going into the paint shop next month. I have added a link below for pictures taken in January. I am still trying to track down the previous so-called restorer Mr. Stephen Griffiths so that the court can serve a summons on him. If any members live in the Worcester area and can help me recover over £9000 I am claiming I would be grateful for your help. The website for where I am assuming he is working is "Severn Classics Group." His former company was called Severn Classics Ltd. Here is a Link to pictures taken in January.

Well, it's now November 2018 and so much has happened since I last added to this forum. My "Ernie" is now in Hampshire after a disaster that was ********* who I am now taking to the court in December. The whole car was stripped back to a shell and soda blasted. The work that was carried out by ********* was found to be unsafe and several inaccuracies where found. The shell now is almost ready for paint. The front subframe was powder coated and rebuilt with all new parts, braking, suspension (Hydrolastic) has been refurbished. The rear subframe is new and again powder coated and rebuilt using new parts. A bespoke wiring loom will be built and electrics will be alternator driven. I will be fitting an immobiliser and tracker also. The soda blasting also revealed all the previous bodges that had been carried out over the 50+ years of owners. The car will be on display at "Minis in the Park" next year. I have included a link to some of the restoration pictures and welcome your comments. www.dropbox.com/sh/d8ger9n8pfs8moo/AABMgK1p9Rwl5BoWBl0mNDb6a?dl=018/01/2019: I am visiting "Old Bones Fabrications" to check on the progress of Ernie Elf who's body should be almost ready for rust treatment and paint. I have booked a place for the "World Record Attempt" at the British Motor Museum Gaydon in September as part of the 60th Birthday celebrations. I would also like with the clubs permission to display him on the club stand if they are planning one? On a different subject, I am still pursuing my claim through the Small Claims Court for a refund from the previous restorers.

Hi Bryan,
Good to hear that you are getting towards the end of the restoration and making plans to drive and display the car. Are you going to paint 'Ernie' Florentine blue as per your avatar picture? either way will be good to see the finished car.
Best regards, Diz

I'm sure that would look fantastic and be quite a statement but have you considered all of the original paint schemes?
Assuming yours is a MkII I beleive these are the original colours;
Arianca Beige (BG13)/Pale Ivory Florentine Blue(BU7)/Florentine Blue (BU7) Cumberland Green/OEW Birch Grey/OEW Yukon Grey/Birch Grey Damask Red/Whitehall Beige (BG4) Chartreuse Yellow/Florentine Blue (BU7)
The first colour is the body followed by the roof.

Well, I had completely forgotten about my post on this site. Ernie my 1966 Riley Elf is now in the final stages of a 3yr nut & bolt restoration and should be on the road in January. I decided to paint "Ernie" in Clipper Blue & Old English White I understand these colours are period but for Mini Cooper models. He has been fully rustproofed and engine detailed. I am on the lookout for a replacement bonnet spear as mine is a little tired. There are pictures on "Facebook" and the ELF/Hornet register. Looking forward to driving "Ernie" to the shows next year.
