I thought it might be good to start a thread for photos of One-Point-Fives - so here goes ....
Genesis! The first prototype (?) - the picture was dated 1956.

Roger,
I just love old photo's of our cars, especially in Black & White which gives them a more period feel. Unfortunately I can't add any to this thread that are not already widely available on the WWW, but keep them coming everyone

Is this thread just for official pictures?

DLM, I thought we could perhaps start a thread for pics of our own cars - and keep this for period photos (official or not). Roger.

Background .... a BMC publicity shot to celebrate Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom (next to the 1.5) winning the 1958 Ladies Rally Championship. Showing the three cars they used that year - including one of the works 1.5s. The Moggy is the famous car they nicknamed 'Granny'.
Sadly Ann Wisdom died on 14th October this year - exactly seven years to the day after Pat Moss - another twist of fate as 7 was Pats lucky number she tried to have on every car!

Period photos, why not. These 'sporting' photos is probably why we own a one-point-five today. Seeing the cars in action is the best, UXP 7 John Young I think? (Roger will correct/confirm)

Bruce, you are correct! Its John Young on the 1958 Monte Carlo Rally, with co-driver H.Coombs. They retired, like most of the rest of the field. Although privately entered, their car was prepared by the BMC Comps Dept and was fitted with many features of the 'works' cars. Roger

Hi Bruce, I am pretty sure this is the original mock-up for the Morris Major - the Minors direct replacement. Note there are only two doors and the grill and bonnet are very 'Morris'. I would guess around 1956/7. When it was decided not to replace the Minor - Australian got the Austin Lancer and Morris Major (which is almost identical to the picture above) - and we got the One-Point-Five and the Wolseley 1500. I think some have probably seen this line up of weekend warriors before;
Note that some Riley have added lightness by removing the front bumper blades? Salut B
