hi just wondering if anyone can help? i have a riley kestrel with a 1300 engine. it has an expansion tank aswell. On the expansion tank is that cap to be a pressurized cap? and which cap is for the actual radiator does anyone know thanks

I think that the cap should be a 13 lb one. If you look at the cap fitted it should have a number stamped on it this is the pressure at which the cap vents off. I would also check the rubber seals around the cap outer seal first to see if it is hard or split and secondly the inner valve seal to see if it is stuck (it should be able to pull it outward) the rubber should not be hard or split. Any problems with the rubber will effect its performance. You can also check that the cap blows off at the correct pressure if you know some one with a radiator pressure tester? Hope that this helps? theres a pressure cap on the expansion tank think its fine but just not sure if the cap that was on the top of radiator is the right one. it was just a non-pressurised cap, but not sure if it should be pressurised or non-pressurised? does anyone have the same kind of car maybe??

I concur with jackiemcd that the pressure cap should be on the expansion tank and there should be a non pressure cap on top of the radiator. NP
