its becoming obvious I'm not going to get to some of my projects.. I have stored in NZ some 5 pathfinders which were carefully chosen out of many more that I looked at over period of 15 yrs....among which are minimally 3 decent cars. 2 x '54..2 X '55 1X 56 'parts only' junker ..+ additional mechanicais including a dismantled engine that has had all parts cleaned and inspected ...Ive spent considerable amount of money on them.. much of which was totally wasted .. basically one of the 54's was very close to being a useable car when stored, but need some re-assembly and the better bonnet/grill from the 'other' '54 fitted..one of the 55s was on the cover of 'Riley record' magazine circa mid '07 when I enjoyed it it for a 4 month tour of both islands..since then it has been almost fully dismantled by an individual i commissioned to do a 'light tidy up' of the bodywork.. consequently I purchased an almost identical car which had been partially restored (mechanical and brake overhaul.. and prep for new paint when the then owner became terminally ill) and had it professionally re-painted to high standard by a reputable shop in christchurch..(Black over deep maroon..car was originally damask red..as was the 'other' '55) along with new front and rear window seals.. but the brightwork remains unfitted..
Just to stress.. these are far above 'average' in terms of the normal corroded botched up filler monsters that are the norm in Uk.. the NZ climate is gentle in comparison. I also have what i believe to be the last remaing Pathfinder in USA..('54 LHD model I was reliably informed had been displayed on the BMC stand at the '54 world fair in NY) body beyond economical restoration..but was mechanically excellent when last started ( about 5 yrs ago) also have a local acquaintance that has an RMD (LHD) that is very sound, solid and original, but needs full cosmetic restoration.(convertible top canvas missing for decades..seats shot etc etc) he did do a very high end rebuild on the engine..but much more needed and he's unlikely to finish it..
Id prefer to find local buyer in NZ.. but am open to all offers.. Im expecting to receive about 10 -15% of the money outlaid so far ...im not able to help with packing and shipping ..
