Hello, I am going to look at my first Riley 1.5 tomorrow with a view to purchase. It’s a restoration project so I want to be sure the vin number is present and correct because there is no v5. Where should I expect to find it? A photo with the general location would be amazing if anyone has one.
Thanks

Hi, VIN number is on the chassis plate on the a-post on the drivers side - only visible when you open the door. The number should start with HSR1 or RHS2. I look after the register - so if you send me a PM (private message) through the forum, I will check to see if we have any history of the car listed. One word of advice when looking at the car - check for rust - it can hide almost anywhere! Roger

(click photo for larger view) If this car is a MK 1 good chance the engine number will match the 'vin' number. There is another number that may interest our registrar, that being the body number that you will finds on a plate on the main bulkhead just above the battery. Post photos of what you meet up with, we may be able to help you out? Have fun Bruce
