Reluctantly I have decided to sell my 1955 Riley Pathfinder. I've owned the car for seven years - its first 'duty' was to act as a wedding car when my wife and I got married in April 2012! It will be supplied with 12 months MoT.
It is in very good condition. It is black, with a stainless steel exhaust and newly re-covered front seats. It drives superbly - the only problem it has is with first gear: first and reverse gears are noisy (as they often are on Pathfinders) and it jumps out of first gear. Second, third and fourth gears are perfect.
The bodywork is excellent - although there is a tiny bit of filler visible in the lower corners of two of the doors. There is a rust bubble evident on the offside rear wheel arch. The chassis/underside is all sound.
Mechanically it goes very well. I've travelled about 10,000 miles in it over the past seven years. It has been well maintained. It has a modern spin-on oil filter conversion and the engine has been converted to run on unleaded petrol. Although it doesn't have the desirable overdrive option, it is still a relaxed car on long journeys and typically returns 24-25mpg.
The interior is very good: it benefits from new carpets and headlining and the (original) rear seat is good. The front seats (as mentioned above) have been recovered in burgundy leather and are lovely! The instruments all work - even the clock works, for a few hours at at time!
The notorious Pathfinder 'issues' when new - the Panhard rod and the brake servo - have both been sorted.
This Riley has been well-looked after and I know I will regret selling it! I am looking for £10,950 ono.
The car is located near Worcester. Please contact Clive on 07979 753505 if interested.
