Does anyone know where I can obtain replacement internal plates, gaskets and bulb holders for the indicators, side and tail lights of my 1.5. The chrome-work has cleaned up really well but I fear that the internal plate / bulb holders are beyond refurbishment. Similarly all of the internal gaskets and seals have perished beyond repair. If replacement gaskets are not being made any longer (as I suspect), could someone suggest an appropriate rubber that I can obtain to attempt to make some replacement gaskets. Any help or advice about lighting refurbishment would be appreciated.
I note also that the Spares listing for body panels has (Please see illustration). can someone point me in the right direction of where the illustrations of the various body panels are.
Many thanks. John

If you have a Mk3 Riley then you have quite a few options as the front side and tail lights are the same as several BMC products of the day ie Austin A40Mk2 Front and rear lights, A50 front side lamps I think, if the Riley spares dept can't help then you will have to cast your net further and look on sites like ebay etc. Mk1&2 Riley's are a different matter as the front indicator is a one off but the side lamp was used on other vehicles again certain Austins, poss MGA and I believe Rovers of that period. The rear light is a one off and is not used on anything else however if you go onto Woolies trim site and look at the different materials there you may find some rubber sheet that you can make lamp gaskets out of and the owners of the business are very helpful so they can be a good source of information too. There were some NOS Lucas rear lamp gaskets on ebay recently at £49 for a pair! Good hunting.

Hi John Here is an old schematic from a few years ago but it may help you identify which repair panel is which? Cheers Rob Attachments:

Be Aware that the rear light gaskets are handed - but worse ... they are thicker on one side than the other - therefore virtually impossible to replicate. best solution is to just cut out a pattern and then copy it onto some rubber gasket sheet and go from there. Good luck. Roger

Thanks for the advice and information NP, Rob and Roger. Looks like there is no easy route to getting new gaskets. I guess I will be contacting woollies Trim and the riley spares on my next set of rest days.
Regards, John

Good luck. Roger Roger Thanks for this tidbit of trivia. I knew the chrome bit is handed but had not realized the base gasket was. Must be ever so slight as my OE ones are crushed and don't look much different. Just one more part of this car I will need to protect with my life. B

Good luck. Roger As I mentioned I had never looked closely at these gaskets before. These are for the MK 1 model so ....... I happen to have a NOS lamp unit in my 'inventory' and I decided to see what this 'difference' is. The gasket has 2 moulded pads in the center of gasket, on side is thicker than the other. Other than this detail the gasket, and a slight lip moulded around inner and outer perimeters, is symmetrical. Click on the image for larger view. So to make up a new gasket from flat stock gasket material is do able I suppose. These are great little cars Salut Bruce

I made these gaskets, for my Wolseley 1500, from 3mm closed cell foam. The foam compresses and shapes itself to the underlying form. Herb Attachments:
