Sorry to bore everyone with yet Another request...........
Is there anyone that's used one of these "LSD devices" - available on THE well known internet site. (& elsewhere)
It's the one that consists of 2 'sprung' metal plates that fit between the half shaft cogs. Are they called 'planet gears'? Once in place, they exert pressure on said cogs & apparently limit the diff spinning around & around.
I'm familiar with proper ZF plate-type LSD's, which would be too aggressive & have also used the more compliant helical gear type, which is perfectly adequate for what I now require.
Question is......... Do these metal plate 'thingies' actually work?
For a fraction of the cost, the phrase - if it looks too good to be true...................
Sound familiar! All feedback greatly appreciated.
Regards, Jeff

Not familiar with these 'devices' Jeff. Perhaps caveat emptor? The only thing that comes to mind is one can now snap both half shafts at once as opposed to one at a time! B

Nah Bruce. A bit pessimistic of you. The wife & I compete in classic rallies with the A40 in which I use a helical LSD. It's well suited to the driving that we do, but the 'device' I refer to is a cheap alternative. I'm a believer that generally, in life, you get nowt for free. However, they do get a worthwhile mention in the MG Midget tuning guide.
Jeff.
