I bought a pair of track rod ends, but they do not fit Their threaded diameter is slighly smaller than the ones fitted to my car. The Supplier insists they are the correct items. Are there more than 1 size? Does anyone have any OEM Part Refs or other information that would help? TIA

I have a part answer to my question. I believe that MM track rod ends are compatible. If anyone is buying MM parts, then please beware! Up To 1958 part is 9/16" BSF. I believe this is the part I have recieved and it is NOT compatible. 1958 Onwards part is 5/8" x 18 UNF. I believe this is compatible? Can anyone confirm this information? Assuming the above is correct, I still do not know if the Riley 1.5 OEM Steering Racks had more than 1 size of track rod end? Can anyone help?

Hello The OE part number for the tie rod end is ACH6115 and is called up to be 5/8" . The factory spares list does not show a supersede # FWIW the check on this diameter is the locking jamb nut used on the tie rod. The part number of this nut FNZ210, which is readily available and shared among many BMC contemporaries, is a half nut 5/8" UNF nut.
I hope this helps

Thanks Bruce, yes that does help. My conclusion is: There is only 1 OEM Riley 1.5 track rod end. Compatible parts need to be checked to make sure they are 5/8" x 18 UNF, as I have seen and telephone checked several that were not, but were advertised as Riley 1.5. All parts suppliers are not equal and sometimes cheap is dear. I can now sleep easy (until the next query arises) Alan
