As title and pic. Not had car long but noticed this leak when underneath sorting seat belts. Does this mean I need a replacement damper? I have no idea what oil is in / should be in it. Advice welcomed please.

before you write it off as broke id be tempted to clean it up & see what happens, however youtube "morris minor rear suspension oil replacement" its same armstrong unit, as for oil think mines got jack oil in from memory

Johnathan, The pivot does have a seal and these age so leaky is what it appears to be. These dampers can be refilled using hydraulic jack oil or motorcycle front fork oil.
I suggest you remove it from the car to clean it up and fill it. Work the arm through the full movement (per manual) to see if the damper is a dud and leaking or really is a dud.
These can be rebuilt

I finally got round to fixing this problem. Cleaned the damper and it was definitely leaking from the pivot so bit the bullet and ordered a reconditioned pair from the Club spares. Fitted them today.

Well done Johnny These corrected dampers you fitted will make the 'rolly polly' ride a lot less 'rolly polly'. B

I just fitted them assuming they were already filled. Maybe I should have checked. I presume 30 engine oil makes them stiffer. I will drive it today and see how it is.

I suggest that you do not use motor oil. This is a hydraulic displacement mechanism so hydraulic jack oil or motorcycle front fork oil is the correct fluid. A simple check will be to remove either end of the link and work the damper arm through its full motion. If even resistance is felt through the full throw of the arm you are golden. B

yes I did that check before fitting, left them upright for a few days and worked them through full range a few times. All fitted and fine now! Thanks
