Does anyone have a pair of outer sills for a 1.5, surplus to requirement, lurking around?
The 12/14 week lead for new items is somewhat frustrating - I'd like to 'get on with it'

Many thanks for the tip-off Bruce. I did check e-bay some time ago but forgot to create a prompt for future items.
Cheers, Jeff

Glad to help Jeff. FWIW the sills shown in that auction don't appear to be as 'complete' as some? and I suppose some trimming may be necessary? I have a OE set, (BMC stickers) that include much more 'metal' that those shown on auction. I will need to make some end closure bits but that doesn't look too daunting. I have been putting off doing this sill repair for a few years now. I have the sills and ability but work and life keep interfering. Perhaps take some snaps of your progress and post them here? I am curious what you will find when the outer sill is cut away. I suspect some if not all the vertical inner membrane will need attention. I am hoping your photos will inspire me to get on with it this coming winter season. Keep well salut Bruce

Keep well salut Bruce I agree the ones on the auction look slightly less complete than the ones I had delivered and fitted earlier this year. Not sure if you have seen the pictures in my thread Bruce, I wont post them again as im not sure they will inspire you at all! Darren

Unfortunately I was 'outbid' on these items. Someone else is obviously desperate for a pair of sills besides me. Ironically, my outer sills are not rotted, but replaced badly. O/S has been done in 2 halves! (not in a straight line) It's the centre & inner sills that are 'past it'. As these are basically straight & flat & easily fabricated, I just needed a pair of 'pukka' outer sills to line everything up..........

I will keep my eyes & ears open for you. As mentioned I will tuck into my 'sills project' soon. If you don't mind me asking, did you make up the vertical 'centre' membrane out of flat sheet metal? did you bother with the series of holes? Have you yet folded closure bits for the front & back ends? If so a simple wood buck and a hammer? Thanks in advance Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I've not removed the existing sills yet, but as stated the inner & central members are both straight & flat. I expect to use a flat piece of 18G steel but don't anticipate cutting the holes in the central section.
For tricky bits of fabbing, like the end closures, (for example) I often 'piece' sections together with a butt weld, then grind/linish to weld to a smooth join. I've done this for the rear door trailing edges & front wing lower corners, to mention just two. The front panel (with numerous compound curves) has proved quite tricky & will require an amount of filler to complete.
Cheers, Jeff

Apologies for not replying when I should have - apparently they were bought for a restoration.
Still looking!

I have previously bought items from 'longbridge' but despite sills being included in the catalogue - they are not available.
I recently e-mailed to confirm that other items were 'in stock'. I then telephoned and agreed a day to visit for collection of items.
Having driven 50 miles I was informed upon arrival that he was unable provide the items, & had to leave the premises in order to take his father to hospital! I wasn't particularly impressed.
