Has anyone got a working gearbox for sale?
There's a couple on fleabay at present for £50 each but there's no knowledge if they're working boxes or will require rebuilding.
I've got two. One where synchro is gone on 2nd gear and I know that appears to be a standard factory fitment and another which when running sounds like a selection of wheel nuts in a biscuit tin.
I'm trying to avoid an expensive rebuild but will have to go down that route if there's nothing available.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm not sure what happened, but my reply didn't make it. Anyway here it is, again. These gearboxes are common to several cars, with minor differences. I rebuilt my Wolseley 1500's one a couple of years ago, and found that the Haynes MGB workshop manual gave the best way to go about it. The Wolseley one was pathetic, the MGA one slightly better, but the MGB one the best. These boxes suffer from under rated layshaft bearings, so any used one may need to be rebuilt anyway. Have a read here, and following articles. mgaguru.com/mgtech/gearbox/gt204.htmHerb
