I received a lot of help with my carb. petrol problem which I hope will be sorted when I fit a new needle valve and seat. While I was waiting I had a look at the number plate and reversing lamp unit which I thought would be easier! Nothing worked but I cleaned all contacts and managed to break one section off the number plate lamp and then broke the glass reversing light window. The small number plate bulbs do not ft very well and probably don't make contact with the sprung centre contact strip. Are they special bulbs perhaps or is there a way of fitting to make good contact on the base and the body of the bulb? As mine is now in a bad state I wondered if anyone may have some spare parts for sale including this unit please?

Lucas L469 is what you need. Usually plenty of second hand and reproduction units available.

Hello Roy Your post reads as if the lamp unit may be past its best before date. My one has lived with a cracked glass lens since a great many years. I refer to this as patina. The thin plastic lens for the 2 license plate lamps is perished/cracked on my one as well. The unfortunate thing about this light unit is it is shared with top end cars, TVR, Jaguar XK120/140 and Aston Martin. This is unfortunates as the price of used or reproduction replacements is reflected accordingly To help in your search the Lucas part number is L469. Maybe search around breakers for one? Bruce
