Seen as no member will help me with a right hand wing, I've decided to break my car. I can't wait any longer with it stripped out. It's a 43k mile mk1 car. Most parts available except rhs wing. Please PM me what you require. I joined the club to help me with my car as lots of members said its a great club everyone will help you. I've made a few posts and hardly anyone comments on them. So it's left me no choice but to break my car. Absolutely mint interior, complete engine and box Inc carbs, ignition etc, doors are mint, great reg number and v5c Inc tags,1 former keeper from new, heritage certificate etc, Mint dash, Mint bonnet, headlining like new, wheels blasted and painted, 4 brand new tyres, Inc hubcaps re chromed. All chromework is mint, all been re done, all brand new overhauled brakes, high ratio diff, loads more new old stock parts also. PM me.

From your description, your car would appear to be too good to break for spares.
The probable reason no-one has offered you a front wing is because they don't grow on trees!
I've recently rebuilt a 1.5. Fortunately, I acquired a pair of outer sills from the club spares. A couple of items were purchased elsewhere. All remaining parts fabricated from scratch. Neither of my front wings or front panel were in very good condition, however with a lot of patience, cutting, welding, grinding they are now (all) presentable.

Find another project in the meantime and keep an eye on ebay. Sooner or later anything and everything turns up...

I've actually been offered 2 wings since this post but both party's want £800 for them. I do know now of another club member who has 3 sets of new radford front wings and he won't sell any, as he may need them in the future, and he is 79 now and doesn't even drive his 1.5!!! Quite saddened that club members want to take other club members pants down. In all the other car clubs I am in, we all try to help each other? I've got someone wanting eng/box and the front doors now.

Hello Mike, What a truly sad read, and I hope you do change your candor. Not many of these One-Point-Five were manufactured, slightly over 39K units. Breaking one more into parts is bordering on criminal, particularly one as sound as your car apparently is. Any car appraisal expert will tell you right up front, spares, particularly body panels and rubber seals etc. are the 'Achilles' heel to owning this model. In your case, in the UK, there is Wolseley 1500 wings that will fit with some fettling, GRP wings that will fit and of course factory ones. Let's remember these cars are 60+ years old and even factory wings will need some loving. When I first got my one-point-five 12 years ago I too required a front wing. A front wing you say? in North America? Best of luck. Well after months of search I found one, on your side of the pond, paid dearly and added carriage to that . My point is these cars are worth the effort. A bunch of spares sitting in ones attic serves no one. Perhaps contact the club executive to help you reach out. FWIW I offered up rear wing repair panels now for a few weeks with no takers. I know one day some owner will need them, not be prepared to wait several weeks for the bespoke manufacturer to produce them and come asking. Being in NA may not be attractive to a UK owner but if needed I have them available. If I had a spare wing it would be yours by now. Don't give up. To perhaps help, peruse eBay. You will find many 'breakers' of these cars simply send a communication to them asking about what you need. You might be surprised. FWIW I recently found a decent deal on a prop shaft and it is now crossing the Atlantic. All the best it was nice to meet you. Bruce

800 quid for a wing?? I'm afraid that is what you'll have to pay. Like it or not. They are generally hand made to order. A40 wings are equally scarce. I was desperate to replace the horrible fibreglass replacement that I inherited with my car. A few years ago the club spares maestro (derek) came up with a 'wing skin kit'! Top half, bottom half - no internal structure whatsoever......... Apart from aligning & joining the two halves together, I then had to create the door pillar structure & headlight mount & front panel closure. The "kit" was 250/300 pounds to start! These items just don't come cheap. There ain't many of 'em left. By nature, I'm not of a patient disposition. Sometimes.........one needs to make exceptions.

Bruce,
What on earth was wrong with that (crumpled) wing? Do you not have a hammer to hand? Then with a skim of filler........
The (generally) bad bits look perfectly OK. Just wishing mine had been so good.
Recycle whatever is possible. I trust you didn't weigh it in for scrap!!!!

Hi Jeff, Well I was young and more silly than I am now is my only defense. At the rusty coloured bit there was a complete tear in the metal. This tear was curled under, mega ragged edge etc. FWIW I did have a go with a dolly and hammer but was making a right mess of things. There was also some corrosion at the lower edge. This photo I show was when I first got George. I was itching to drive the little car so I needed a wing in good order to pass our equivalent of the MOT. Even then finding a wing, receiving it, fitting it and painting it took me 9months. Now getting a wing spear was a whole other story. salut Bruce
