Bit of a long shot I know but worth a try. I recently treated myself to a beautiful Mark 3 Riley One Point Five in Damask Red which was a bereavement sale in Northern Ireland so sadly it came without any history. I'm hoping that someone may know something of its previous life as I'm aware that it has been known about within Riley Motor Club circles since the 1980s and I personally took photos of it in excellent condition back in the late '80s/early '90s when it was local to me in the Warwickshire area. The registration number is 238 FDM and any help would be much appreciated. Cheers. Rob

Hello Rob, That is a lovely looking car. You may already have this info ................. ? From the registrar sheets, mind you an old copy. Perhaps Roger F. has more recent details? B

Rob, In the late 1960's I used to see your red Riley every day. It was a Flintshire registered car (I had/still have my green one today). I lived in Flint on the coast iof the River Dee in North Wales and travelled to work in Chester, a round trip of 30 miles. Your car was in use in Shotton where the driver and myself would see each other. He was a guy about my age - then 25 or so. He really looked after the car as every day I saw it, it was clean. Then it disappeared and I wondered what had happened to the red Riley I used to see. There was also a black Riley reg RDM 99 that was maybe one of the first 150 built at Abingdon. RDM was a 1958 registration. That one was owned by Mr Jones of Jones Motor Services of Flint, as kind a guy as you could meet. I never found out who drove what has become your red Riley but I would look in the Connahs Quay/Shotton towns. Perhaps an advert in the Evening Leader and Liverpool Daily Post would help. Perhaps where are they now in Classic and Sportscar would turn up a result. I understand that Flintshire County Council scrapped all their registration records a while ago. Well they would would wouldn't they. It would be about the time they were putting the Council Tax up and buying themselves a fleet of Audi A8's. Please let me know if you turn anything up. Vic
