So I am about to deep dive into my front suspension to fit my disc brake conversion. I rummage about to be sure I have all I need to clean up the bits and fit once and for all, right? So my query is this; The top trunnion and lower trunnion have different part number seals. I gather the upper is a smaller diameter of the swivel pin and the lower larger diameter. I have previously changed these out with what I thought were bits from ESM. Quite a while ago, + 1year, I ordered new seals, however I seem to have ordered quantity 4 of the lower seals. I just checked and cannot see any of the upper seals listed on their site. Where do you chaps source the upper seals? #20 in the snap below. Thanks in advance Bruce

Hi Bruce, I recently ordered the split seals that ESM supply so they can be replaced in situ (they are 3D printed by MMC). I ordered what I thought were the right ones but they sent me the wrong ones. however, when I rang them they said someone had put parts in the wrong bin but I think their website listing is not clear. They sent me the correct top ones, now fitted and fine. I suggest you ring them to ensure you get the right parts. The split ones are SP748 and 749. The solid ones are SUS152MMC which I think are the top ones you want. Fingers crossed! Hope this helps

Hello Johnathan, Thanks for this feedback Honestly I really don't like the look of the 3D printed bits, the resolution of the printing, (part finish) leaves something to desire to my eye, hence my query. Curious that a vendor decides what our cars need versus what our cars want? With Charles Ware shutting the doors we are becoming limited to parts sources? Would you be kind enough to post a photo of these 3D printed bits installed? I will appreciate it. Bruce

I don't think the SUS152MMC is 3d printed only the split ones. Ill send a pic tomorrow.

Hi Bruce, I've found that many Morris Minor bits are the same as our cars'. Maybe there are more options going with them.

Yes I am aware that MM bits for this application should be correct, as I mentioned in my initial post I bought these from a MM parts outlet in UK. The reason for my post is , the ESM site (and others) dictates that the seals are the same for top & bottom. According to the factory IPL, and what I have, this is not the case. I show these individual OE part numbers in my initial post. To be sure I show below that there is a difference; hence the individual part numbers from the factory IPL. So, do we think that the only rubber seal on offer, being #SUS152MMC is a 'one size fits both' and will be 'loose' on the top and 'snug' on the bottom application? I have on hand new from ESM lower seals, (1.5 year ago) that are similar to but different than either I show in my photo above. I just had a thought. Perhaps the aftermarket trunnions, (SUS ####) are cast a different size than the OE ones that I have? and the aftermarket rubber seal SUS152MMC seal is to fit only these aftermarket trunnion ? Has any of you lot recently performed this work to confirm what is what? I apologize for my persistence, and this is a peeve of mine. Vendors using untraceable proprietary part numbers, makes these somewhat obscure cars more difficult to keep on the road. Rant over! Thanks to all Bruce @jonathan,merci en avance for the photo of the installation you have, using the 3d printed bits. B

Hi Bruce Like you I got sent just the lower ones by ESM and had to ring them to sort it out and insist they looked at the parts as we spoke so they sent me what I wanted. I am sure there is confusion with their website and part nos. I used the split SP748 which is shown in the pic. I put the split at the back so not visible in my pic. I didn't get chance to get the car out of the garage today to take the wheel off so pic was taken looking up from in front. If you would like a better set of pics I can happily do that wednesday.

Thanks Jonathan, I appreciate you taking the time to crawl under your car. No need for more, your photo shows this aftermarket 'seal' very well. and yes the vendors are not playing nicely. I see that the 3D printed part is not so ugly installed, sadly it may be the only part available and we can now use. I am pleased to see your car still wears the original upper trunnion. The cup shape top is a bonus for the rebound bumper. Let me see how I make out over the next weeks as I happily wrench the Riley. B
