Good afternoon, My friend was lucky to buy a '54 Riley RME recently. It is in a good condition but there are some scratch on the body that he wants to repair. However to paint he'd need to know the color code. As per the original bill the car has dark maroon colour. Would it be possible to learn what the colour code of this 'dark maroon' colour? I tried to look around and found the following 2 relevant pages but they didn't help a lot I am afraid. rileymotorclub.proboards.com/thread/512/riley-duotone-paint-colours-codeswww.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_finishes.htm#formulasI'd appreciate any help please! Happy New Year! Regards, Viktor Horvath

before anything i would get the paint cut back to how it was in other words remove a very thin layer , all paint fades in the sun / daylight, then you know what your dealing with colour wise, myself my can of damask red (local autofactors) was no where near try these guys and girls www.paintnuts.co.uk/paint-by-type/classic-cars/riley

As Vue said. Also you could take the car to a body shop paint specialist to have a batch made up to match. I doubt that even with the correct colour code it would be a good match.

As has been said above, a good bodyshop/paint supplier might be the best bet for a match. For academic interest the Riley Cars Archive Heritage has a huge amount of digitised documentation on is website ( rileycarsarchive.org/) including some sales literature. If you have time you might be able to locate an original sales brochure or similar in their collection which could confirm the colour name/code
