I have been working through the lighting on my car, basically on safety grounds. This stage was to convert to LED indicators and add Hazard warning. Replacing the indicator bulbs with amber LEDs was straightforward using an electronic flasher unit and bulbs from Classic Car LEDs. The LEDs are bright and strong amber and the flasher has a louder click than the OE thermal unit. As the flasher operates at the same rate irrespective of load it could also be used to operate all 4 indicators together with a suitable switch. Classic Car LEDs don't sell a switch but they did send me a wiring diagram that they recommended for use with their flasher. I didn't want to use a rocker switch but found a nice push/pull switch from APUK The switch came with two connectors but I removed those and used a combination of spades and bullets for the connections. I picked up the fused permanent live from the horn circuit at the bullet connector on the offside. Happily the loom in the car already had two extra wires under the dash to feed the indicators so I could link those to the switch. All the other leads were connected at the flasher and routed through corrugated sleeving through a grommet into the engine bay.

Jonathan, Well done you. I believe installing hazard flashers is a must for these oldtimer cars. I went another route and bought a pre wired kit, no worries I asked him to keep the ScotchLok connectors, there is no place on my car for these. www.bettercarlighting.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=572that has a simple wiring set up using diodes. The vendor Gil Keane provided me a positive earth wiring kit which makes this dead easy for my car. I maintain the OE type incandescent bulbs all round, except the headlamps and my dome light. I particularly like the 'vintage' looking proprietary switch that is included with the kit, and probably the reason I chose this kit. I have no yet installed it as other jobs are taking priority. This install will be part of an auxiliary panel installed below dash, including a clock, parking light plug etc. Apologies I do get carried away. Bruce
