I am in re-assembly mode and the torsion bar is back in with the new bushes. I have put the hub back on this afternoon and all looks ok, but I have some parts left over that are concerning me. They came from the bag I had helpfully marked 'Front Brakes' The rather special looking washer has a bevelled edge The other two are black rubber and are the same diameter as the washer. The hole in the centre of the washer is too small to fit the centre bar of the hub (if you see what I mean). They would have come off when I took the brake shoes off and removed the hub and disconnected the back plate from the suspension arm.

Hi If you look at the exploded diagram on the first page of the post (Renovating the Suspension) there is an exploded diagram it would appear that the rubbers are items no 59 the washer is more tricky as I have not had one of these apart for some time but it could be item 22 or even item 69. Best thing to do would be to a,Take a copy of the exploded view and check over the rebuilt suspension to see if anything is missing or b, look at the opposite side of the vehicle and compare to the side you have just rebuilt to see if there are any differences. Sorry that I could not be of more help NP

Simon, Having leftover 'consumable' bits is OK but having left over 'critical' bits NOT good! You have switched forum posts with your queries so you will need to go back to the other to reference the item numbers. Robert has steered you correctly.
FWIW in the previous thread I advised;
"Note, pay attention to #59, 58 etc. these may stick together or whatever. You will now be able to slide the spindle #1, with trunnion #8 forward and off of the rear arm. Again pay attention to the #13, #58, #59 etc. "
Take a look, the rubber seals you show are renewed by the bits in your new kit. The washer shown is critical and re used, with the bevel direction the lower trunnion. A dry fit is your best friend here.
I will be your big brother now and advise that you DOUBLE check the rest of your installation for 'order of assembly' of myriad washers, seal, nuts, bushes etc.

Have just collected the wing from the restorers. The repair involved repairing two holes - one at the base of the trailing edge (left of picture) and one on the same edge, just above the crease. They welded in new metal and then painted about 4" in from the left hand edge - the rest of the wing hasn't been painted. Can you see the join? Going to coat the back in the epoxy primer before I refit it.

Simon, One word,

or is that 2 words?
Very nice, I suspect this may well put the rest of the body work to shame?
Carry on.

Oh I hope not - I can't afford to re-paint the car one panel at a time

After I had my accident a couple of years ago, I had a new front wing (obtained from someone in the RMC who had a pair going spare) fitted and got a 'good as new' front panel off fleabay. Once they had been fitted and painted up along with the non-damaged wing being painted, it did and still does, put the rest of the car to shame. Whilst the car was in bits I took the opportunity to have new wing spears and scripts fitted. Pricey but well worth it. So, just everything from the front doors to the rear to be done now. Oh joy.
