Hi,can anyone help with this problem on a '62 Riley 1.5 Please.Horns work but not in situ fuse good wiring all there push button in steering wheel complete.What checks can I make with a meter?

Hi Pathfinder,
This is going to sound like a daft question, but have you checked the fuse?
On my 1960 1.5 there are only 2 live fuses and one of them appears to do the horns, as I found out after half disassembling the steering wheel to test the button. It may not be that but it's worth checking.

All I can suggest is to go through the whole thing logically and methodically with a multimeter ... Test you have 12volts getting to the horn button, then if ok, test to see 12v gets to the horns when the button is pressed. Test to see they are earthing correctly. Somewhere you should find a problem . If you need, I have two spare horns! Roger

In my limited experience, a bad earth has been the cause of most such problems. It might be worth taking a new cable directly from the battery earth terminal to the horn terminal, just to check. Regards, Rob

Had the same issue with my 1969 Riley Kestrel - it was bad earth. Clean up the connections and double check with multimeter to see there is 12v getting to the horns.
