I've just had my fuel tank cleaned and was wondering what the gasket material between it and the sender unit is made of. It didn't survive removal, but there's enough left for a pattern. It looks a bit like cork, but I can't tell for sure. Thanks!

Hi It was Cork, however the modern material I have seen used is a sort of rubberised cork but I would try the Club Parts Dept First if you do not have the correct thickness Gasket Paper/Cork to hand. I think it is the same Sender Gasket as Mini Saloon/Estate part number 2H1082 you can get these from any Mini specialist. Hope this is of some help? NP

2Robert4 is spot on, the Riley parts list calls up gasket #2H1082.
As well as all Mini as mentioned I believe the MGA fuel sender uses same gasket.

Wow - just had two quotes for shipping from Western USA, one for $38US, and one for $45US for a part worth less than a dollar!

Ian, Something sounds amiss with those carriage charges. I suggest you contact Scarborough Faire. This is a firm that specializes in MG A etc. Talk with Cecelia she will see you right. Ask for part #R85. This is a light weight gasket that shouldn't be more than 5$ postage to you.

Scarborough Faire were great and fast! Whole box full of goodies shipped for much less than others quoted for just the one gasket!
