Hi The problem with a lot of the bearings you see for sale on the internet is that they are poorly made Chinese or Indian bearings which will not last. I would suggest that you look for bearings with RHP, SKF, Timken etc as these are made to exacting standards and will last I would imagine that the Club Spares Dept would take a similar view. There is quite a debate in the classic vehicle world at the moment regarding the poor quality of some reproduction parts in some cases lasting a matter of months! Hope this helps NP

Hello David, To add to Roberts advice, wheel bearings like most of the rubber bits available these days is suspect, both source and quality.
These hubs on the one-point-five is shared with many of its contemporaries, eg:, Metropolitan, Austin A30 & 35, AH Sprite and of course the Mor**s Min*r. I did a cross reference of BMC part numbers to Timken part number. This firm is a decent bearing manufacturer and I believe still supplies OEM parts. I have used these bearings and are not overly expensive as memory serves.
For the inner wheel bearing the Timken part #30205M will cross with BMC #2A4147 and Unipart #GHB129 For the outer wheel bearing the Timken part #30303 will cross with BMC #2A4148 and Unipart #GHB128
Best to have your bearing in hand to measure the ID, OD and width of course.
If I was in the UK my first stop would be club spares. No value to quote you Canadian price, but here is a UK source you may wish to explore?

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

wow! such a source of information canuck! many thanks, the rubbish that is out there is amazing, as I found out before on this subject, I did talk to our club spares manager, most helpful and asked him what was the make of bearing the club supplied, after checking and kindly phoning me back, he said there was NO name, part number nothing on it!, now I know these are sourced from a local bearing stockist to our club stores, and they may be very reputable, but at £23.00 for outer and £26 for inner I would expect top quality, i.e. Timken/skf/fag etc. but they could be of the same manufacture as the e-bay rubbish ! where £50.00 will get you all four and seals as well! our spares office has had NO complaints re the bearings supplied, so this whole question I am raising may be a red herring! and if so my apologies,

David, This aftermarket 'rubbish' situation is real and unfortunately I see no end in sight. I also own a MGB that is probably the best supported, (clubs, spares, tech help) classic car of the crowd. Moss Motors dominates this supply chain of parts and has many parts sourced from far East countries. Quality unfortunately is always in question, particularly the rubber bits. There seems to be a disconnect between, quality & price offered to the consumer from many parts suppliers. OK rant over, I feel better now!
I am not qualified to doubt Barry claim that the bearings provided by club spares are top quality. I may even question where the SKF, Timken etc. bearings are made? perhaps the far East on the same assembly line as the no name?
I have sent you a PM.
