I need the "rubber" flexible hanger that connects the rear exhaust box to the body. It looks like a figure of 8 section. Has anyone any ideas or can suggest an alternative. It is for my Riley 1.5 which, bodily, is nearing completion. Needless to say it is costing more than it is worth. Look forward to a reply. Thanks in advance.

Hi Oakall2,
I had the same problem with mine - Couldn't locate the correct fitting.
However the local Halfords came up trumps with a mount which you can adjust and works a treat. As long as you don't mind a none standard fit/look!
Hope this helps, Roger

Oakall2,
Roger shows a reasonable solution of the Halfords offering.
These hangers are an oddly complicated assembly, consisting of bent/folded plates, tubular spacers and the like. Curiously your request of a "a figure of 8 section" is used on the intermediate pipe support, and the actual silencer hangers, (hidden above the rear axle), the rear hanger is a rectangular block of rubber. Click below for a better view
I searched the planet for these and came up empty handed. For the rear hanger I cannibalized the type Roger shows, (maybe 2 of them to get the thickness) and used the rubber bit only, I had all the plates, tube spacers etc.
For the silencer 'figure of 8' bits I was able to find some bits from a supplier such as the link below shows.

I cannot recall which one but there is a decent selection of insulators to choose from.
Back to you
Bruce

Hi all, I think you will find the Club spares scheme has the figure of 8 rubber and most of the other bracketry (is there such a word?). I will check the list when I get home tonight and post again!

Bob, I looked in the spares list and only saw stuff for Elf's etc maybe I did not look in the right place. I have bought a 'Universal' hanger off the net which has holes that match the broken original. Bruce, it is the rear silencer hanger that I should have specified. Roger, the Halfords support looks worth having as a 'just in case' item in the car. My car is the one on the front page of the 1.5 owners list - it was taken at Hoar Park. Thanks for your replies.

Hi Oakall2, Sorry that I haven't had chance to go to the unit and check the stock yet, but I am sure we have the original item up there. To be fair, I think it's an item that is not actually shown on the current list. There are quite a few "oddments" coming to light in the stock which I think will prove interesting. What I am aiming to do is have all of the stock listed so that you will be able to see "current" stock online and also display the BMC part number to make identification easier. On the same tack, I think it would help if we could get scans of all of the Parts Lists onto the Forum, to help members identify what part nos. they require. Is there anyone out there that could help with this task? Happy Christmas to all.

Bob, Look forward to the developments on the spares front. I will be in touch for various parts as the rejuvenation of Riley progresses. Harry
