I have a problem after the engine and all other parts were removed for the restoration of the engine bay. Everything replaced and worked properly except for the wiper motor. The motor now runs anti-clockwise instead of clockwise when viewed from the front of the car. This means that the wipers work from N/S to O/S. The connections are made correctly. Has anybody experienced this and what might be the solution ? Many thanks in anticipation. Harry

Hi Harry, Is it possible that it's wired up backwards, and if so, would that make the difference? I'm no electrician, so I may be talking cobblers! I usually am according to my better 'arf.

Harry, Are you sure the wiper motor is turning in reverse? Is this just a wiper park issue? If so perform the below procedure. If not perhaps the wiper wheel boxes/worm drive were installed upside down when the car was reassembled.
My understanding is the wiper motor only turns one way and playing with the wiring will blow fuses etc.
The Riley wiper motor (Lucas DR3A) gearbox has a round cover with a single wire attached.
Inside this cover, (with the wire on it) is the parking disc/commutator (resembles like a Pac Man icon ) that determines the position of park for the wipers. To correct the park position, (RH or LH) simply loosen the four screws holding the flat plate, (or only 2 closest to the round cover), and rotate this round cover to adjust the point of rotation of where the crank drive of the motor will park, (this is sort of a switch). You can safely remove this cover to have a look inside to understand the mechanism if you want. While there put some new grease as well if so inclined. So if you set the crank at its full extension then the wipers will park left if set to the shortest will park right. Maybe I mixed this up, (right/left bit) but this is what you need to do; simply rotate the cover until you get a suitable park position.
Note: Best to do this with the wiper arms removed and use a bit of tape or a mark on the spindle to determine the park position. George wipers to park to the left, with respective cover position as shown above.
Have fun

Harry, Bruce is right - you can adjust the position of the wipers by fiddling with the commutator.
When I finished rebuilding mine - I found that the wipers parked on the 'wrong' side (just like the LHD cars). Dismantling and resetting the commutator did the trick - it just took time and patience!
