Hi , is the wiring loom the same on right hand drive and left hand? A new loom came with my very rotten 1.5, I’ve now got all welding, painted, all running gear and mgb engine and box in. But the loom looks wrong to me

Good question, Not sure ... I had always assumed that they were different. However a quick check on the Autosparks website suggests they are the same - certainly they don't list them seperately. When I bought mine, I dont remember having to specify LHD or RHD! Might be worth giving Autosparks a call to find out. Roger

Roger I’ve looked on Autosparks and as you say they only list one, I have mine through the bulkhead and upto the rear section loom, now when it’s layed out all the dash wires are in the passenger foot well. I can’t load any pictures unfortunately

ROGER YOU MAY CONSIDER A NEW LOOM FROM AUTOSPARKS,THE REASON I AM SAYING THIS IS THAT THEY CAN ADD TO THEIR STANDARD LOOM FOR ALTERNATOR OR ELECTRIC ENGINE FAN,I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THIS ROUTE WHEN I REPLACED MY LOOM.

Hi David, When I bought my loom last year, I was able to specify different items - such as electric fan. Their service and pricing was excellent. Roger

Comments from the LHD side of the world. I suspect that these RH/LH harness could well have been the same animal. click on the above snap and have a look. The harness could have been designed, (clever those blighters ) to be easily routed to suit either RH or LH requirement. Simply re direct the 'business' ends of the harness to suit the build. There is a wire break out to accommodate radio & heater blower connections at or about the centreline. That's my story ... Keep well and healthy Bruce

Hi , i have two extra wires that are not on my wiring diagram, a red and blue and red and yellow, both run to the lighting connections NS&OS I wonder if the loom has been modified to take auxiliary lights maybe! Cheers these wires terminate at a single connectors at each side front of car? near the cluster of connectors for the headlamps and proximity to the dual earthing point connector ? (below) If so these are the enigmatic wires for the "Fog lights when fitted". The Red/Yellow wire is a give away, a Lucas wire standard colour for driving/spot lamps. On the dash there is a 2 terminal pull/turn switch, 'F' knob that operates these wires. Wire it correctly, I believe the switch is only powered on headlamp dip position? Would you be kind enough to document/mark up on a schematic? These wire and switch has been a 'head scratcher' for many owners. That Red/Blue wire is interesting. The headlamp dip beam is a Blue/Red wire while the high beam Blue/White,, same cluster of connectors. FWIW my OE wiring harness is a mix of PVC coated and cloth braid wires. My cloth braid wires colours are pretty much impossible to decipher, so the schematic, a test light and labeling is my way to diagnose any hiccup I may encounter. Bruce
