Bruce. On the face of it, this looks to be a better project than some I've seen advertised on fleabay. Others look to have been complete basket cases and perhaps only to be used as donor cars for other projects. Hopefully, someone will take it on.

Hi Bruce
Quite tempted due to the colour but having spoken to the owner, a lovely chap who started as an apprentice mechanic in the early sixties at a BMC dealership, it does need a fair bit of work. It hasn't moved a wheel since 2004 and apart from what's already been mentioned in the listing the jacking points are corroded and corrosion to the floors plus patches to the chassis legs and front crossmember, all doors bubbling along the bottoms and corrosion to rear arches. Some electrical issues, clutch and brakes seized, bonnet split, steering worn, upholstery has had mice attacks, wood all delaminated and although it had a respray at some stage in the past the paint has microblistered all over the car. But then which of us are perfect at 57 years old although thankfully the mice haven't gotten at me yet!

Rob, Good input The register has this car on SORN since 2008, so yes a sleeping beauty to be awaken. Although you list ' a garage load' of work to be done I think any one of these cars that has not received loving for a number of years will need this sort of attention. I have worked on George, (but driven extensively) for 10 years and he still needs attention, (some major) and after all this he still looks forlorn. For sure someone will have to 'want' this car and then posses the necessary skills and enthusiasm to carry out saving it, to what ever level they choose. It would be sad to see a 'complete' car go to the crusher. salut B

It would appear that a single bid secured this 'orphan', any one we know?

Hi Bruce - it was me, I had a price in mind considering what needs doing so threw in a bid and was successful. I haven't seen it yet, it's being collected next week hopefully. The seller seemed a very genuine chap and I thought, oh what the heck! I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a decent boot lid in that colour I'd be very interested. Rob

As I wrote previously the car appears to be complete and depending on the level of build can again be a very nice car. Post your progress Bruce
